We were thrilled to be invited to sing with British baritone Roderick Williams, OBE.
It was a very special night filled with wonderful music and an amazing opportunity
for our singers to be involved with a world class professional singer.
We were thrilled that the World Choir Games were held in Auckland in 2024, giving Senior Choir the opportunity to compete at a global level without needing to leave our country! And what a wonderful experience we had! We competed in the Children's Choir Open Category held in the Auckland Town Hall, along with 11 other children's choirs from all over the world, including China, Taipei and Australia. We were thrilled to be awarded a Golden Diploma for our competition recital - an amazing accomplishment, especially considering NZCCA is only 18 months old, and this was our first competition.
We also got to sing a Friendship Concert at MOTAT, along with the Australian Children's Choir and Shanghai Sfuture Choir. This was a great opportunity to sing in a more informal setting and make friends with fellow singers from different countries. We are so pleased we were able to have this chance to
compete and share on the world stage and look forward to the next opportunity in the near future!
We had a fantastic midwinter concert and fundraiser on Saturday 15 June at St Luke's Church Remuera.
A full house of supportive and enthusiastic friends and whanau and beautiful performances by our Junior and Senior choirs
made for a wonderful evening. We were also thrilled to sell everything in our fundraising silent auction.
Thank you to everyone who came for your support!
What a fantastic turn out we had for our first open evening for 2024! We loved sharing our progress so far with our friends and whanau, and are looking forward to performing for everyone in our future concerts and festival performances this year!
What an amazing four days we had to begin 2024 at our Summer School @ Te Tuhi! We had three strands running - a junior choir, a senior choir and our teachers/conductors. With amazing leaders and mentors such as Amelia Giles, Elise Bradley (MNZM), Dr Karen Grylls (CNZM), Takerei Komene, James Harrison and Elizabeth Lau, our singers and conductors learnt heaps, made great friendships and had so much fun! Huge thanks to Pub Charity Ltd for their support of this programme.
On Saturday 2 December 2023, the New Zealand Children's Choral Academy held its first end of year concert. It was brilliant seeing the amazing progress both the Junior and Senior choirs have made in just one year, and we loved having a large and supportive audience of family and friends in attendance.
Bring on 2024!
In the September/October school holidays, we ran a fantastic 4 day workshop and performance programme, alongside the national NZ Choral Federation's Choral Connect conference.
Consisting of a Junior Choir programme for junior singers aged 5-8 years, and a Senior Choir programme, for singers aged 9 years and above, all singers were given the opportunity to learn new repertoire from all over the world, sing in multiple languages, work with nationally and internationally renowned conductors, and of course form new friendships and have fun! Our 4 days culminated in a performance at the Due Drop Event Centre, where we were delighted to perform alongside with the New Zealand Youth Choir and Gondwana Chorale from Australia.

On Tuesday 25 July 2023, the Junior and Senior Choirs each held an Open Evening for family and friends to showcase what they have learnt so far this year. They thoroughly enjoyed performing for the supportive audience, and loved having friends come along who are interested in joining the NZCCA family.
They are now looking forward to an end-of-year concert that builds on what they were able to perform during this open evening, and can't wait to see you all there!
